Nats Edge Closer to Bryce Harper Signing

Posted by KilgoreTroutIII

The Pirates and Orioles are turning in Herculean efforts to catch the Nats in the Bryce Harper Sweepstakes, but it’s almost impossible now. After losing six in a row, the Pirates won Friday. The Orioles have lost an impressive eight straight, but even if they lost their remaining nine for a 17-game losing streak, the Nats would have to go 8-1 for the O’s to tie it. Pittsburgh’s win put them back to 5.5 behind with 10 games to go, meaning they would have to lose seven to tie an 8-1 Nats finish.

Nats Cruisin’ to Sweepstakes Win

Posted by KilgoreTroutIII

As unlikely as it sounds, if the Nats were to go 9-4 the rest of the way, it would still be awfully hard for any team to catch them. To see the full post and see how many games the other teams would have to lose to catch the Nats in the Race see:  Natinals Natin.

Nats Slip With Two-Game Win Streak

Posted by KilgoreTroutIII

Maybe the Nats thought the race was over and it was safe to win a few games, because the Royals have won five in a row. But the Pirates lost their fourth straight and pulled within six of the Nats, who are on a two-game winning streak. The O’s also won.

Nats March On

Posted by KilgoreTroutIII

The Nats lost their eighth consecutive game Saturday, to edge closer to The Chosen One. The Royals lost their third straight to stay 5.5 games back. The Pirates are trying the hardest now, having lost nine in a row. They remain eight back, but they waited too long to have much chance of catching the Nats who have operated on a season-long plan that was thrown off track only temporarily by the elevation of Jim Riggleman (now 20-29/ .408 as manager). When Bryce Harper signs with the Nats, let the thanks go to Manny Acta who established an insurmountable lead with a record of 26-61/ .299.
